We love Adam Lambert and we admire the enthusiasm and loyalty of his fans.

But we got into a bit of a stand-off with them last month when THG ran a story that said Lambert "ripped" Susan Boyle, referring to her her album as "terrible" and her rendition of "Wild Horses" as laughable.

Supporters of this singer jumped down our throat for misquoting the superstar, claiming we were going after Google hits (via our harsh word choice) instead of the truth. This critique prompted us to pen an editorial in which we told Adam fans to "chill out."

Since then, we've made up... right, Lambert lovers? But we still feel the need to defend our professional integrity and state: Adam really doesn't like Boyle's work. In a new interview with The Herald Sun, he was asked about his comment and said:

"It came across a bit harsher than how it actually went down. But I'm not a fan of the record, it wasn't a lie."

Let's all move on now. Adam has. He talked about the perception of American Idol in the same interview:

"[People think] you come off the show and all of a sudden you are put in this machine and puppeted into this product. That's not my experience at all.

"I'm a pretty outspoken, upfront, forward type of person, and I have opinions about what I want to be as an artist. I told them I want to be glam, be pop, be rock, I want to be everything, blend it all together and have a great time doing it. Be theatrical and be out there."

That's certainly who Lambert is - and we adore him for remaining true to himself.

We can describe the performance of Adam Lambert in Sydney, Australia this week with three words: Diamond-encrusted crotch plate.

The singer remained true to his controversial, racy self last night by performing Down Under and rocking out to "For Your Entertainment." He thrusted his private parts, he wore a skintight outfit and he even started the performance with a rendition of the robot.

Not everyone will love it, but Adam knows that. He's simply proud of who he is and doesn't cower in the face of critics. It would be nice if everyone shared those traits, wouldn't it?

The singer has released "Voodoo" online, a track from the international version of this debut album.

Out for some promotional duties, Adam Lambert was spotted in Sydney, Australia on Saturday (March 6).

With a big smile on his face, the “American Idol” runner-up signed autographs and greeted fans all the while promoting his latest music.

On March 10, the singer will kick off a new round of Unplugged on VH1. The original series debuted on MTV in 1989. It features artists in an intimate setting, surrounded by audience members, and singing acoustic versions of their hits.

Memorable past performances on the concert special include Mariah Carey (1992), 10,000 Maniacs (1993) and Lauryn Hill (2002).

Lambert's installment will be the first of eight new episodes, which will also highlight Phoenix (on MTV), The Script (on VH1) and Reba McEntire (on CMT). Take a look at the following shot of Lambert going Unplugged...

He’s been playing the field as of late, but now there are reports that Adam Lambert has reconciled with his ex-boyfriend Drake LaBray.

Having split up last October, Adam and Drake have been seen around LA getting up close and personal at clubs like Avalon and Bardot.

He has sky-rocketed to super-stardom ever since his stint on “American Idol” and now Adam Lambert is opening up about his past.

In an interview with News of The World, Lambert admits to drug abuse, telling of his teenage years, “I went wild and I was experimenting with certain substances.”

Adam Lambert will return to the American Idol stage this season.

A few hours after Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen performed for fans, Lambert Tweeted today:

"Yes, I have been booked on Idol! Can't reveal the date yet but it's a ways off... So excited. Kris and Allison were awesome last night."

They sure were. But Lambert's debut album sold the most copies of any season eight finalist and his appearance later this year is sure to draw huge ratings.

But which competitors will still be around to see him? Our money is on Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Didi Benami or Crystal Bowersox to walk away with the season nine crown. What do you think?

A day after an Internet uproar was created over Adam Lambert's critique of Susan Boyle, we know how badly fans of the singer want the spotlight to shift away from this topic.

Trust us: we really know. We've been engaging in a lively debate with supporters over their occasionally intense reaction to negative talk about Adam.

But as fellow fans of the talented crooner, we agree: let's move on. Let's make sure Lambert is NOT misquoted when it comes to his personal sense of style.

With that in mind, we've posted an extensive interview with Adam below. In it, he chooses three words to describe his fashion taste; dishes on the outfits he wore on American Idol and in music videos; and comes across as the well-spoken star millions and millions admire.

Earlier today, we posted an article with the headline "Adam Lambert Rips Into Susan Boyle." *

Did we aim to capture the attention of readers with it? Of course. Did we then explain the situation - in which Lambert referred to Boyle's album as "terrible," laughed about her single "Wild Horses" and then said he was misquoted, while not providing his real quote - in great detail? Yes.

Did Lambert fans seem to care about the latter point? Not one bit.

The instant they saw one negative word written about Adam, his supporters went off. They told us we were being unfairly critical of the singer; that he was entitled to his opinion; that we were fueling the hate against him.

(* Through a debate with Lambert fans that we greatly appreciate, we changed this headline because we now agree it was unnecessarily inflammatory.)

Because we now feel as though we've been unfairly criticized, especially in light of the positive Lambert articles we've written for months, allow us to respond to each of these points:

• Adam is a mega celebrity. Every word he utters will be scrutinized. As such, he should have realized that his labeling of Boyle's album as "terrible" would result in the stir it's created. We simply pointed that out.
• Of course Lambert is entitled to his opinion. And we're entitled to respond to it with ours. This is the basis for all celebrity gossip sites, television reviews, movie reviews and pretty much every editorial ever written.
• Aside from those that simply don't have a taste for his music, people hate Adam Lambert for one reason: he is a proud, gay man. These critics are homophobes. We will never cater to them, we will only pity them and nothing we say will ever change their minds.

While we admire Lambert's fans for their enthusiasm and dedication, we sometimes feel as though they treat Adam like he's a child in need of their immediate, undying defense.

Lambert would be the first to tell them thank you... but calm down. He's not a saint. He's just a regular person. That's really Adam's main appeal: he's a normal guy that is open to discussing his sexuality and appreciates the opportunity he's been given.

But he may say a dumb thing or two. He may release a single we dislike. When that happens, we're gonna call Adam out on it. Are readers entitled to get mad at us for it? Absolutely.

We just fear they're defending Adam, almost coddling him, in a way he wouldn't appreciate. He's never asked for any special treatment. We're sure he wants nothing more than to be analyzed and written about like any artist out there.

This may result in some people hating him, and that's okay. It also may result in some of his biggest followers - like the THG staff - taking issue with a few of his decisions. Not only do we think this is also okay, we think it's exactly what Adam would want.

They were linked throughout 2009 as artists that burst onto the scene and captured the heart of music fans in wholly contrasting ways:

Adam Lambert was loud, in your face, sexy, gay, proud and confident.

Susan Boyle was quiet, timid, reliant on an opera-like voice that's been hidden inside a (let's face it) ugly body.

Both released debut albums in November, with Boyle's breaking records and dominating the charts for months. Lambert's fared well, but it didn't stand out in nearly the same way.

Now, Adam has ripped into the Scottish singer, saying in a recent interview:

If only it weren't for Susan Boyle! I'm happy for her success, but that album is terrible. "Wild Horses" is the one that made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!

In his defense, Adam says he's been misquoted. He and Susan appeared on Oprah together last month and certainly seemed to get along well. He was also clearly laughing when he said the words above, but it's not hard to see why they've created such a stir.

We're enormous fans of Lambert and have defended him against critics since his run on American Idol. But it's hard to have any reaction to these comments, IF he said them, aside from: Bitter much?!?

Lambert's honest and open attitude is a major appeal, but anyone can go too far. When the target is a singer who has outsold him by millions, the attack just seems fueled by jealousy and pettiness.

Was Lambert joking around when he critiqued Boyle? Probably. But he should have known better than to go on record with such pointed words. If he referred to to the album as "terrible," then he's entitled to his opinion - but so are others that believe he should have thought more about these comments.

Adam Lambert is on record: he won't rule out sex with women.

Following a development this week, we now have an idea of what it would take to land Lambert if you're a member of the softer gender: don glitter and record a number-one single.

During a party on February 13 at a gay nightclub in New York City called Providence, the American Idol runner-up played a serious game of tonsil hockey with Ke$ha.

“She’s really pretty, we were laughing and we just started kissing. She’s a great [kisser]," Adam told the radio show BLI In The Morning yesterday.

Care to elaborate, Adam?

"She tasted like Goldschläger and maple syrup," he told JustJared.com.

Sounds like the sort of combination Ke$ha would partake in, doesn't in? She's not your average celebrity.

As for Lambert? “He tasted like blueberries and champagne," the female singer, who performed earlier in the evening, said.

Did the make out session extend beyond the club and beyond first base? No. But if Lambert were to give women a shot, wouldn't Ke$ha be perfect for him?

We don't know where the following video is from.

We don't know why Adam Lambert is sitting with a bunch of students and singing along with their background music to "Whataya Want From Me."

But we do know this: it's just another example of why we love this former American Idol finalist. Anything but pretentious, he's a man of the people... as long as none of them scream into their cell phones.

P.S. No, current Idol semifinalist Alex Lambert is NOT related to Adam. They share a love of music, not any DNA.

A day after famously telling an audience member to get off her cell phone during a concert, Adam Lambert spoke to E! News.

The singer didn't feel like reliving the incident - which has mostly earned him props from those that admire his boldness and hate on cell phone abusers - but he did touch on a number of other topics. To wit:

His favorite artists right now: "Ke$ha's CD is really fantastic for getting ready. Always Goldfrapp. Always, always, always. Mike Snow is a great album to get ready to."

His most-used hair products: "Oh man, I've lost count. And I got really overwhelmed, too, because it's cold and it's hot and it's dry. I'm like oh, moisturizer! Oh hairspray! Just hairspray is my friend in general, especially in this weather."

A sexy celebrity: "Anna Kendrick."

For someone that likes men, he sure has good taste in women. The Twilight Saga and Up in the Air star is an absolute cutie.

Lambert added that he has no plans to go on tour and hasn't watched any of American Idol this season yet.

That's too bad because semifinalist Todrick Hall appears to have some of Adam's unique style in him, as evidenced by his take on "I'm Yours" in Hollywood at least. He still have a VERY long way to go until he's in Lambert's league, of course.

Continuing the craziness of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, G-Star Raw held their Fall 2010 runway show in Bryant Park last night (February 16).

And there was plenty of celebrity eye candy to be seen as big names from both film and music showed up to peep the latest looks.

The singer stood up against cell phone abuse last night, actually stopping mid-song during a concert in New York City and telling an audience member (politely) to stop screaming into her phone.

And while we're sure the singer was flattered by the nearly 100 birthday wishes sent his way by THG readers, he still felt a need to throw a party for himself at the Mondrian's ADCB restaurant.

According to reports and witnesses, the soiree included Lambert's mom, his ex-boyfriend Drake Labry... and Lindsay Lohan.

The latter, random guest showed up because Samantha Ronson was spinning records at the bash. It's unclear if Lindsay was actually invited, however.

"I think she knows Adam, but I don't get the vibe they are great pals," an insider told E! News. "She was of course friendly and nice to him, but I have a feeling it was more about Sam being there."

Adam Lambert performed his single "Strut" on the talk show, and followed it up by presenting Ellen with a special present: an autographed portrait of himself... and his underwear.

Both items will be put up for auction, with the proceeds going toward relief efforts in Haiti.

Making his way north of the border, Adam Lambert was spotted arriving at Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada on Sunday night (January 24).

Trying his best to go incognito, the “American Idol” runner-up clearly did not want to be noticed - wearing a black hoodie zipped all the way up while his entourage tried to block photographers from taking his photograph.

Getting all dressed up for a red carpet walk, Adam Lambert was among the stars on hand at the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, California on Saturday (January 23).

Looking quite handsome in his tux as he strolled along the Shrine Auditorium entrance area, the “American Idol” hunk has been a staple at each and every awards show to take place this season.

For a few hours a couple weeks ago, there was a rumor that said Adam Lambert would appear on Glee. It was quickly shot down.

However, the singer has made it clear he'd be open to appearing on various TV shows, especially if he could gaze into the eyes of a certain shaggy-haired CW star on one of them.

“As long as I can do a scene opposite Chace Crawford, I’d be happy,” the former American Idol runner-up recently said. “I just want a couple moments where I can just look and be like, hmmmm. Just some eye contact and I’ll be really happy.”

Lambert on Gossip Girl? Who wouldn't pay to see that?!?

If he can't land that gig, Adam has a couple other ideas:

1. True Blood: “Maybe this vampire was an underground performer at clubs like Fantasia or whatnot and he’s part of a new movement of vampire that is in the public eye and isn’t afraid to embrace his vampire nature onstage and off."

2. Weeds: "I’d either be very sober and against the lifestyle just to kind of be ironic or I’d be like a drug dealer or something. I just would want to go to two extremes of things that I would never be."

What TV show would you most wanna see Lambert guest star on?

While this month's earthquake in Haiti has led to incomprehensible damage and death figures, there's been the tiniest of silver linings:

Countless celebrities have come together in support of the victims in that poor, needy nation. Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Madonna and many others have donated money to the cause, while George Clooney has organized a telethon that will air on every major network this Friday night.

Among the young stars that will appear on the telecast are Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron and Taylor Swift. We can now add Selena Gomez to that list.

The 17-year-old actress posted the following on her Facebook page today: “I will be on the phones during George Clooney & Joel Gallen’s Hope for Haiti Now telethon this Friday from 5pm to 7pm PST. I am so honored to be an active participant in this amazing fund raising event.

"Be sure to tune in, you cannot miss it it is on MTV, over 30 major TV networks, and CNN worldwide. Let’s all come together and help those in Haiti.”

Sitting down for his much-awaited Oprah interview on Tuesday, Adam Lambert chatted with the talk show host about everything from career advice to his sudden rise to fame.

The “American Idol” stud explained a quick meet-up with Madonna at her NYC apartment, telling, “It was wild, I’ve looked up to her as a popstar… She came in with no make-up, yoga wear, totally Zen and her presence is very powerful, very intense.”

He may have performed in front of millions of American Idol viewers and seen his album sales take off, but Adam Lambert didn't officially strike it big until yesterday.

That's when he sat down with talk show icon Oprah Winfrey. The singer didn't touch on anything new in the interview - no, he doesn't regret his American Music Awards performance; yes, he's gay - but he did take the next step in a burgeoning career.

Lambert also shared his New Year's resolution with viewers: to enjoy every single moment in the spotlight.

This Tuesday, everyone's favorite American Idol runner-up will be the main guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, as rumors of this "once-in-a-lifetime" event have been verified. In fact, Lambert taped his interview and performance in Chicago yesterday.

We'll reveal more about Lambert and Oprah's conversation as the days go by, but for now, we can confirm that it touches on the following topics:

• Simon Cowell's departure from American Idol;
• Adam's life before and after his run on the show;
• And, of course, his controversial performance at the American Music Awards.

The crooner will also perform "Whataya Want from Me" for the studio audience and television viewers; while he'll briefly be joined on the episode by another chart-topper: Susan Boyle.

Commence screams of excitement in 3... 2... 1...

After initial reports surfaced that Adam Lambert was hooking up with Ferras Alqaisi, all has remained quiet on that dating front.

Until now!

The American Idol finalist was spotted at Hotel Cafe in West Hollywood this weekend, attending a Ferras concert. The pair were then seen exiting the building and walking closely together:

Soon after American Idol ended, Lambert went public with his sexuality and then with his relationship with Drake LaBry.

But those two broke up in late October and Adam wasted little time in getting close to Alqaisi. Are they an official item? It's unclear at this time.

Adam Lambert may have had a few issues with ABC recently, but there’s one television network that is happy to welcome the American Idol runner-up to its headquarters:

On middle school: “[It] was kind of an isolated time. I mean the only social outlet I really had was theatre and that was one day a week. I was in a childrens theatre group on Saturdays and that was really my social group. That was the one place where I felt like there were other kids like me.”

On coming out as gay: “It’s funny …This whole thing, talking about coming out. I don’t even think about it anymore until all of this started happening with my career. And it’s interesting now, because I am open and visible. I suppose it is important to talk about it, but the past eight or nine years of my life I haven’t thought twice about it, it’s just who I am.”

It sounds like Oprah Winfrey fans will soon hear a lot more from Lambert, as well.

Taking to the town, Adam Lambert was spotted out in Hollywood, California on Saturday night (January 9).

The “American Idol” runner up was joined by his good friend Ferras as he was spotted leaving the Hotel Cafe after watching his pal perform.

We were always taught that if something sounds too good to be true, it is likely false.

We were also taught that The National Enquirer is an unreliable source for entertainment news.

Therefore, we're trying hard not to hyperventilate over the latest rumor regarding Adam Lambert: the tabloid reports he's booked to guest star on Glee.

Sources supposedly say the singer will appear on the Fox hit in April, taking on the role of a character that helps Kurt (Glee cast member Chris Colfer) come out of the closet.

In October, the former American Idol finalist was interviewed by Winfrey for an episode about reality TV stars. Shen then invited him back to perform after his CD was released.

In early 2009, Adam Lambert won over viewers on American Idol.

But that wasn't the singer's biggest victory to date.

In a new interview with OK! Weekly, Lambert opens up about his life-changing victory over obesity.

“I lost probably about forty pounds about ten years ago,” he said. “When I was in high school, I had bad eating habits. I ate a bunch of crap – a bunch of fast food and stuff. I learned more about what’s healthy and what’s not healthy. I used a little bit of self-control.”

After shedding the excess weight, how did Lambert feel?

“Oh, a hundred times better. Physically I felt better, but I also had better self-esteem and body image.”

Lambert added that he lacks the self-discipline to incorporate workouts into his daily routine, but we're not too worried about him. You'd be surprised how many calories can be burned by gyrating around on stage.

Never one to miss out on a good time, Pamela Anderson was head of the party as she hosted a New Year’s Eve celebration at Gridlock at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA.

The former “Baywatch” babe flaunted that oh-so-famous physique in an off the shoulder white dress while doing the honor of a champagne toast at midnight.

He was one of the most successful, memorable celebrities of 2009.

Therefore, it was only appropriate that Adam Lambert put on a show to close out his first year in the spotlight.

The American Idol runner-up did just that in Hollywood last night, rocking out at Paramount Studios and ringing in 2010 with fans (and Pamela Anderson, apparently).

The year in music belonged to these two rising stars.

He started the year as an unknown; made headlines in February for his flamboyant acts; finished second on American Idol; and has to already be considered one of the most successful singers in the show's history.

Adam Lambert hasn't merely made a name for himself in 2009, he's created a cult following in fewer than 12 months.

Hated by some and embraced by others, the crooner managed to handle his sexuality with both subtle grace AND over-the-top exploits. Adam has more in common with Lady GaGa than unique fashion taste and controversial performances.

Both are well-spoken in interviews and deadly serious about their craft.

Lambert made out with a man at the American Music Awards, but 2009 will be best remembered as the year he made off with the title of Most Fascinating Singer Alive.

As for his female counterpart, Lady Gaga produced a half-dozen hits this year, proving herself so much more than a gimmick or flamboyant flash in the musical pan.

Not that there was a shortage of flamboyance.

She dressed as scrap metal, a gimp, a button, a chain-smoking rabbit, and a Kermit the frog doll collage. She simulated her own bloody murder on stage. She was even rumored to be a hermaphrodite after one revealing display.

We love her for every moment of it. That's just Lady Gaga for you.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the wildly popular singer dishes on the year of his life. As the excerpts below depict, he looks back on American Idol, coming out of the closet and more...

On American Idol: "I honestly didn't feel like I would get that far on the show. I thought, I'm not as conventional as American Idol usually likes. I just didn't expect the judges and the audience to be as supportive as they were."

On announcing he's gay: "I'm very comfortable with my sexuality, and very, very open about it, and have always been out, since I was out of high school..  after the competition was over, and I had made my mark, so to speak, I felt like then it was appropriate to talk about my personal life."

On an upcoming tour: "I think it's probably going to be springtime... I think it's not going to be a standard arena tour. We're going to do something a little different. My big goal is I want to create a show. I want to do something that's very visually dynamic, and is a little more interactive feeling than your typical arena tour."

On his favorite TV show: "I watched True Blood. I just love the tone of it. I really like what they're saying. In many ways, they're talking about our current civil rights issues, but under the guise of they're vampires. It's really sexy. The actors are fantastic. The storylines are captivating."

Sexy, fantastic and captivating? Lambert could be referring to himself with those descriptions.

The controversial singer may have his detractors, but Chelsea Handler sure isn't one of them.

Lambert appeared on her E! talk show last night and shared many laughs with the host, who isn't exactly the most conservative person on the planet. As you can imagine, she's fully on Adam's side, even offering up a gay employee as a possible boy toy for the star.
