Oscar Fashion, Celebrities on Full Display at Vanity Fair Party

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The red carpet of the Academy Awards was not the only place last night to laugh at Zoe Saldana or drool over Taylor Lautner.

Following the ceremony, anyone who is anyone - and even anyone who is slowly becoming no one (hi, Jessica Simpson!) - stopped by the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

From award winners to former American Idol finalists, we've posted photos of the stars at this annual shindig below. Click on each to enlarge...

Zoe Saldana Earns Academy Award for Worst Dressed

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

When it came to the major Academy Awards, Avatar was shut out last night.

But the movie didn't go home as a total loser: Zoe Saldana earned The Hollywood Gossip's annual Worst Dressed (dis)honor for the frock she donned below.

Hideous from the front and the back, Saldana is lucky she has a pretty face, considerable talent and the highest-grossing film in history on her acting resume. Because she'll never make it as a fashion connoisseur.

With apologies to Charlie Theron's regrettable dress, this was the ugliest of the ugly on the red carpet...

Academy Awards Fashion Face-Off: Sandra Bullock vs. Mo’Nique

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Sandra Bullock and Mo'Nique were among last night's Oscar winners.

But which of the two talented actresses was the big fashion winner?

Sandra, who won Best Actress for The Blind Side, to the surprise of no one, followed the lead of Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet with a sparkling, silver dress.

Mo'Nique, who took home Best Supporting Actress for Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, was feeling anything but blue in a gown of that color.

Can Sandra Blind Side her competition here? Vote below and tell us!

Academy Awards Fashion Face-Off: Cameron Diaz vs. Kate Winslet

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Our previous Oscar night style showdown pitted Meryl Streep and Charlize Theron against each other. This face-off might be a more difficult choice for fans.

Needless to say, Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet are both stunning blondes, and needless to say, both looked stunning in silver last night, albeit differently.

Cameron's dress sparkled, literally, while Kate's epitomized traditional class.

Hard to go wrong either way, but which of the stars' stylish silver dresses do you think looked better on her at the Academy Awards? Vote below!

Academy Awards Fashion Face-Off: Meryl Streep vs. Charlize Theron

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Meryl Streep has been nominated for Academy Awards approximately 278 times, and while she didn't win last night, the acting legend looked classy as ever.

In this day and age, it's refreshing to see the Julie & Julia star wear what many may consider old-fashioned attire but with such style. She's really awesome.

Charlize Theron, on the other hand, may want to rethink going with the same fashion designer next year. Is her own dress getting to second base with her?

Some people loved the South African stunner's gown, while others found it to be among the night's worst. Which of these stars' fashion do you prefer? Vote!

Academy Awards Fashion Face-Off: Jeff Bridges vs. Ben Stiller

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Jeff Bridges was among the Academy Award winners last night at Hollywood's marquee event, taking home Best Actor honors for his role in Crazy Heart.

Ben Stiller did not. But he did receive some laughs (either with him or at him) when he took to the stage dressed as one of the blue dudes from Avatar.

The James Cameron film did not win Best Picture, but it did win Best Costume By a Presenter ... in our opinion. No one can accuse Ben of half-assing it!

It's no George Clooney and Saddam Hussein, but who do you think was better dressed at last night's gala, scruffy Jeff or alien Ben? Vote in our poll ...

Academy Awards Fashion Face-Off: J. Anthony vs. Nariah

Monday, March 8th, 2010

There was a first-time win for Sandra Bullock.

There were many funny jokes from hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.

There was a mistaken Saddan Hussein sighting.

In the end, it was an eventful Academy Awards for all in attendance and all that watched last night. The four celebrities below fit into both those categories, as none of them were nominated for any awards.

But one of these couples can still come out a winner. Just vote for it in the poll below...

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

No offense to Sanda Bullock and left tackles around the world, but The Blind Side deserves a Best Picture nomination about as much as Jake Pavela deserves an award for sincerity.

But that's what happens when you water down the Academy Awards and nominate twice as many films as usual for the top honor. The 2010 nominees were announced earlier today. A look at the main categories...

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin to Co-Host Academy Awards

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

One is a comedian that plays the banjo.

The other is an actor that utters the funniest 30 Rock quotes - nay, the funniest quotes, period! - on television.

Together, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will host the 2010 Academy Awards.

"I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin," Martin, who has hosted the event twice before, said in a statement.

Replied Baldwin: "I don't play the banjo, but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars – it's the opportunity of a lifetime."

"We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars," said show producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic. "Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event."

Hey, as long as he leaves he doesn't leave any messages during the event, Balwin is an inspired choice.

Hey, if you haven’t seen Ben Stiller’s impression of a drugged out Joaquin Phoenix yet, well, you need to. This happened at the Academy Awards last weekend. Great stuff.

Oscar Fashion Face-Off: Brangelina vs. Zanessa

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

From an acting standpoint, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens have a ways to go before being spoken of in the same breath as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

The High School Musical duo is already challenging them in terms of pure popularity, however, and their collective sexiness was on display at the Oscars.

Two sexy couples. Trend-setting dresses and hot tuxes. The biggest night in all of entertainment. Who will win this celebrity fashion face-off for the ages?

We're not entirely sure what Beyonce was going for with the dress she donned last night, but it was one of the more interesting Academy Awards fashion statements.

The lovely Freida Pinto burst on the Hollywood scene this year in Slumdog Millionaire, which pretty much dominated the entire Academy Awards last night.

Miley Cyrus, meanwhile, was at the gala to promote her film Hannah Montana and the Topless Vanity Fair Photo Chronicles. Just kidding. But give it time.

Kate Winslet took home the Best Actress honor at the Oscars last night, and her stunning dress may leave her among the Academy Awards fashion winners as well.

As for Sarah Jessica Parker?

She was practically falling out of her dress. That is not without merit, but we expected something trendier from a star whose claim to fame is Sex and the City.
