The news of his death was shocking enough, but now the details following Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein’s death are quite surprising as well.
The Associated Press is reporting that a crack pipe and prescription pills –including Xanax - were found in the DJ’s New York City apartment.

Yes, the put-upon Girls Gone Wild founder is trying to paint himself as a sympathetic figure in the aftermath of the epic nightclub melee the other night that resulted in words - and blows - being exchanged with Brody Jenner.
"Brody hit me in the face," Francis says of the incident, which took place outside the Hollywood nightclub Guys and Dolls and ended with Jenner being tasered.
Jenner says Francis kicked and punched Jayde Nicole, his Playmate girlfriend. This happened, according to witnesses, after she threw a drink in Francis' face.
She did this because in her opinion, Joe was paying too much attention to his ex (and her BFF), model Abbey Wilson. But Francis says he didn't hit anyone.
He "may have accidentally grabbed [Nicole's] hair" as he was turning around after having a drink poured on him, Francis told E! News, but that was the only contact he had with anyone. He says that surveillance footage will back him up.
"Someone shoved me from behind, then hurled a drink at me, glass and all," poor Joe Francis said after the fact. "I turned to see who that was, and the next thing I knew, I was on the ground, with Brody Jenner ripping at my shirt."
"The security guards told me that they saw the whole thing, and apologized to me for the trouble. They even offered me a new Guys and Dolls T-shirt."
Security was helping Francis to his car when he says Brody Jenner "cold-cocked" him. At some point during the ensuing rumble, someone took a taser to Jenner.
Francis says he's considering legal action against Jenner for the "false, outrageous, and slanderous" accusation (via Twitter) that Francis pummeled Jayde Nicole.
"I've never hit a girl in my life," Joe says, "and the accusation disgusts me."
But, since he couldn't possibly take the high road without getting in a sleazy dig, Joe says Brody has the "smallest penis in Hollywood" and that only a low caliber person "dates a girl with the word respect tattooed above her vagina."

He had a busy week of dad duties, and it looks like Jon Gosselin is ready for a break.
On Friday (August 28), the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star arrived at a Las Vegas airport sporting a crisp white button up, jeans and tennis shoes.
Sources say that the late DJ AM was "completely devastated" over a recent breakup with his girlfriend, Hayley Wood, with whom he split within the last week.
Hayley Wood was the one who called off their relationship.
"She ended it, and he didn’t want it to end. The breakup hurt him. He hadn't been in a good place lately. For the past week, he wasn't really around, he was just keeping to himself, and he was blowing people off," says a source.
Police found DJ AM dead in his New York apartment yesterday. The celebrity DJ, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, battled substance abuse in the past.

According to folks close to him, DJ AM was having a very hard time dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder from the plane crash he survived last September.
DJ AM has been sober for nine years, but sources say the breakup and the stress over the plane crash could have caused him to start using drugs again.
Prescription pill bottles and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found at the scene.
His body was removed last night. The friend who called 911 on Friday, prompting cops to enter Goldstein's apartment, told the dispatcher DJ AM had not been seen for two days, but people were still hearing from him Thursday.

Move over, Al Roker. Another TV journalist has taken hilarious, cheap shots at Heidi Montag and sparked venomous a retort from her slimy husband Spencer.
Earlier this week, CNN's Anderson Cooper called the recent Miss Universe performance by Heidi - whoever she is - a "fresh new way to embarrass herself."
With a clip of the epic crap-fest playing in the background, Cooper said he doesn't know "who this person is, nor why she is pretending to be a singer, nor why anyone should actually listen to her, but apparently, she's famous." Point, AC!
In reference to Heidi thanking God after her performance, Cooper said that "I really don't think God had anything to do with this. If God had time to work on this production, if this is the best God can do, then we're all in trouble."
He also noted that Heidi could not remember the lyrics to her own song ... while lip-synching. Classic, and quite true. But Spencer Pratt was not amused.
"Between health care, CIA interrogation techniques and the economy, I think it's funny how the Silver Coyote spent four minutes discussing someone who he claims to not know exists," Spencer said, even though it was closer to one minute.
Pratt added that Cooper is "trying to get a piece of Speidi's fame."
"It's our pleasure to help out anyone whose ratings are in need," Spencer said. "We appreciate every second people spend talking about the greatest performance in television history, which over a billion people saw."
EDITOR'S NOTE: A billion people did not watch. Six million did in the U.S., plus a few million more elsewhere. So he's right, give or take 990 million.
Why let facts stand in the way of a good press release, right Spencer? Then again, he also compared her to Michael Jackson earlier this week. Sigh.

Coming as quite the saddening shock to the celebrity world, Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein was found dead in a Manhattan apartment on Friday evening (August 28).
The 36-year-old’s passing comes nearly a year after he survived a small-plane crash which killed four passengers, while DJ AM and drummer Travis Barker were the lone survivors.
Kim Kardashian has already posed nude.
She's jumped around on a trampoline in a bikini.
So, naturally, there was really only one look Kardashian had yet to try out: the gothic bowl cut.
The reality star took care of that in the latest issue of YRB, a random, possibly imaginary magazine that paid Kim a lot of money to cover its latest issue looking like this:
On her official blog, Kardashian wrote:

Unhappy over the publicity her fellow knocked up D-lister has received, Kendra Wilkinson jumped on to her blog today and posted the pregnancy pics below. She wrote:

DJ AM, who fought several battles with drugs in the past and survived a near-fatal plane crash just last year, passed away this afternoon. He was 36.
The star, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, was found dead in his New York City apartment Friday afternoon. The cause of death has not been released by the medical examiner, although it does not look like there was foul play.
Sources say he was found in his apartment at around 5:20 p.m. DJ AM had not been seen or heard from in a few days, prompting one of his friends to check on him.
He got no response after knocking on his apartment door.
The friend called the police, and this afternoon, the fire department finally entered his apartment and found his body, shirtless and wearing sweatpants.
TMZ reports that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, including a "pipe commonly used to smoke drugs" - later identified as a crack pipe.
There were also reports of prescription pill bottles found in the vicinity of DJ AM's body. Details are just trickling in at this time, but stay tuned.

Only three days before his death, he Tweeted, "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems." So true.
Last year, he revealed that he was abused by his father, became addicted to drugs and had even attempted suicide in the past. DJ AM said he attended recovery meetings and has remained drug-free for about a decade.
"He was sober for 10 years, a friend said. "His sobriety was really important to him."
In April, the celebrity DJ signed on to do an intervention-style reality show, called Gone Too Far, on MTV and had began promoting the series this month.
In September, he was badly injured after a plane caught fire during an aborted takeoff in South Carolina. After surviving the crash that left four others dead, the star - who survived along with Travis Barker - said he was "the luckiest guy alive."
America's most eligible bachelor, Jon Gosselin, says that while it was over with wife Kate last fall, he tried counseling in an effort to save their marriage.
"I worked on my marriage," the reality star told People.
"I went to therapy. I have huge bills, so [detractors] can't denounce that. For [Kate] to say she'd been working on it – well, I'd been working on it too."
"At one point in time I just gave up. There's a point in time where you have to just say, 'This is not going to work.' So at that point I just moved on."
That point for Jon was October 2008.
In May 2009, he says he began "talking" to Hailey Glassman, 22, but they did not start dating until after Kate Gosselin filed for divorce on June 22.
That's because it "wasn't appropriate" to paw each other until then, Jon says. Railing Deanna Hummel prior to the divorce filing? Another matter.
Jon Gosselin loves Hailey Glassman. And earrings, and Ed Hardy t-shirts.
In any case, Jon has no problem admitting he and Hailey Glassman are "boyfriend and girlfriend," and in no uncertain terms, that he's a one-woman man:
"I love Hailey," he says.
But he still has respect for his ex-wife, particularly as a mother: "I have no ill will toward Kate. She's the mother of my kids. She's a great mom."
"I'll always love Kate. I went through a bunch of pictures today, it's sad to see something that was good turn bad, but we moved in different directions."
And he's not talking just about opposite ends of the couch - although Jon says anyone watching Jon & Kate Plus 8 could tell they were having issues.
"We move further and further apart because we're frustrated," he says. "But it's reality TV. We get in a fight today and have to do an interview tonight."
It's tough being Jon. If only he could get a regular 9-to-5 job ... that pays him $75,000 a week and enables him to score with lots of mediocre girls.
The Los Angeles County Coroner has just ruled the manner of Michael Jackson's death homicide, and the official cause of death "Acute Propofol intoxication."
Reports surfaced last week that the signer's death would be ruled a homicide, which constitutes a death at the hand of another person, but does not necessarily result in criminal charges. In this case, however, odds are that it will.
Sources familiar with the case say prosecution is not inevitable, given Jackson’s long history of drug use, health problems and other challenges in the case.
However, in court papers, the LAPD has identified Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's doctor at the time of his death, as the target of a manslaughter investigation.
The Coroner did not disclose the full autopsy - just a press release summarizing it. But when the manner of death is ruled "homicide," you get the idea.
The report says "other conditions contributing to death: Benzodiazepine effect." Benzodiazepines are a group of drugs used to treat anxiety and insomnia.
According to the medical examiners' findings, Propofol and Lorazepam (Ativan) were found to be the primary drugs responsible for Michael Jackson's death.

The final and complete report, including the toxicology report, will remain on security hold, per the LAPD, which is still investigating the star's demise.
No charges have been filed against anyone ... yet.
Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician, has admitted giving him what was the fatal dose of Propofol. However, the timeline in which that took place, as well as the various other inconsistencies, have police digging deeper.
He may well face a manslaughter charge when all is said and done.
For someone who claims to be into girl-on-girl action, Megan Fox might wanna stop pissing off every warm-blooded female on the planet.
The actress, whose collection of of scantily-clad photos in various magazines doesn't always sit well with other women, told MTV News this week that she had no problem making out with co-star Amanda Seyfried in Jennifer's Body.
Absolutely no problem at all.
"I feel much safer with girls, so I felt more comfortable kissing her in the movie than kissing any of the other people that I had to kiss," the actress said, causing us to wonder what the heck Brian Austin Green is doing wrong.

Adam Lambert told People that it's been challenging to put songs together this summer, as he's toured the country for weeks with fellow finalists.
"We’re still gathering material and we’re scheduling more recording sessions for when [the tour is] over, so we’re about halfway done," the talented singer said.
Unsurprising to anyone that watched him dominate Idol, Lambert says the album will be “quite eclectic.”

Making an official ruling, the Los Angeles County coroner has announced that Michael Jackson’s death was ruled as a homicide.
As was expected, the King of Pop’s passing is said to have stemmed from “acute propofol intoxication.”
Working away on his musical endeavors, Adam Lambert has offered up details regarding his upcoming debut album.
The “American Idol” runner-up tells, “There are songs on there that are anthems; there are songs that make you want to dance; there are songs that make you feel sexy; there are songs that touch you, hopefully, with more emotional, insightful, deeper lyrics…There are songs that are more in the line with a rock sound. After her son's formal sentencing to five years' probation this week for beating Rihanna, Chris Brown's mom Joyce Hawkins has spoken out for the first time.
Thanking fans for standing by her troubled 20-year-old son, Hawkins posted the following comments on the singer's fan site, TheChrisBrownFanClub.com:
"I want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your continued support. I'm sorry I wasn't allowed to speak to anyone as the case was ongoing."
"I can now say this has been the most painful moment in my entire life, but knowing that you were still standing by Chris' side made it a little easier for us."

It's certainly hard to fault Joyce for sticking by her son, but evoking God can only do so much. Given Brown's history of violence, it's on him to set a better example and prove that he deserves the second chance he's been given.

Fresh off an appearance on Royal Pains, gorgeous Sports Illustrated model Brooklyn Decker is returning to TV with a guest role on Ugly Betty this fall.
The wife of Andy Rodick will appear as Betty's co-worker Lexie. Decker, 22, sort of confirmed her appearance with this post on her Twitter this week:
“Working on an amazing set!! Can’t tell you guys what it is... Just yet," she Tweeted. "But I can tell you I’m loving it and can’t wait to spill the beans!”
The beans have been spilled. Sorry, B-Deck.
She also appeared on one episode of Chuck last season. Here's hoping for lots more appearances on TV. Or at least more SI Brooklyn Decker pictures.

Getting to work on her brand new project, Mandy Moore was spotted on the set of “Swinging With the Finkels” at Primrose Hill in London on Friday (August 28).
The “Walk to Remember” actress was all bundled up for the day’s work duties, being joined by co-star Melissa George as she prepped to begin work on the Indie film.
Heather Mills may be a renowned digger of gold and an all-around painful individual, but she didn't make terrible points about embattled football star Michael Vick at the Celebrity Catwalk event benefiting National Animal Rescue last night.
At the charity fundraiser in Hollywood, in which the animal lover was honored, she and other stars were asked about Vick and his return to the NFL.
While some stars slammed Vick, Heather Mills was more introspective.
"Everybody deserves a second chance," she told Radar Online. "It's about getting him to turn around a younger generation. In a way, it's the most horrific thing, but if it hadn't have happened there wouldn't be the awareness there is."

And, while R&B star Mya said "shame on you," to Vick, she also implied that his punishment may have been too severe: "People have done cruel things to other people and have not gotten as much punishment," she said in an interview.
Other stars were more blunt in their disgust for Vick. Girls Next Door star Bridget Marquardt said that she wouldn't give Michael the time of day.
Hills moron Stephanie Pratt didn't hold back: "I hate him. I think he's vile and disgusting." A great line coming from a sibling of Spencer Pratt.
Shannon Elizabeth said Vick "got a free pass" (two years in federal prison apparently qualify) and "better start becoming an animal advocate."

Well, eight months after she began dating the husband of the other woman, it is being reported that Shania Twain and Frederic Thiebaud are getting married!
The couple showed off matching "promise rings" - hers silver with diamonds, his just silver - at Shania’s secluded cottage on the Lake of Bays in Ontario.
They "can’t wait" to make it official.

A Star Magazine insider (there's a contradiction in terms) says Shania and Frederic have been discussing wedding plans and hope to tie the knot next year.
“[Frederic Thiebaud] is the only person that Shania trusts outside of her family,” says another insider. “She feels so lucky to have found him.”
This story is probably complete crap, but Mutt Lange is still an idiot.

It's true. She had unprotected sex with shady boyfriend Scott Disick, forgot to take her birth control pill and is now spilling every mind-numbing detail of her expecting state.
While Kourtney has (miraculously) not spoken out about the impending child today, she was spotted walking down the street, her baby bump in full effect.
