Lynne Spears has plenty to be thankful for.

In the year, she watched her famous daughter, Britney Spears, go bonkers but crawl back from the brink, and her less-famous daughter, Jamie Lynn Spears, scandalously get knocked up at age 16, only to get engaged and welcome a happy baby.

How did 27-year-old Britney rebound from a pair of forced hospitalizations and a string of erratic behavior, such as a quickly annulled Vegas wedding in 2004, an infamous head-shaving in 2007, and myriad bizarre dalliances with men?

"With a lot of love and care and help," Lynne Spears said Thursday evening, speaking to the U.K.'s GMTV via satellite from New Orleans, Louisiana.

"Sometimes you have to settle down. You have to stop, think. There's a lot of people that care about Britney and love Britney – and she's doing great now."

While the singer still hasn't regained custody of her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, Lynne had only praise for her daughter's parenting skills.

"Oh she's a wonderful mother – she's funny, she's extremely affectionate," said the Spears matriarch, who's promoting her memoir, Through the Storm.

"[At] home, where there's nobody around, she's very normal."

Fresh off the success of her first single, "Womanizer," Britney is now in Europe promoting her new album, Circus. She's scheduled to go on tour next year.

"I think Britney's just ready to get started again," said her mom. "I think this is when she's most in her element."

Spending the Thanksgiving holiday with her billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin, Naomi Campbell was spotted on the beach in Miami, Florida yesterday.

Miss Campbell and Mr. Doronin looked blissful as they soaked in the sun, though when a paparazzo got a little too close for his liking, Vladimir immediately confronted the shutterbug and tried to wrestle away his camera.

Enjoying some time in New York City, John Mayer was spotted stopping by the Ed Sullivan Theater yesterday for an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

The “Waiting on the World to Change” singer gave a friendly smile to the paparazzi as he made his way inside, wearing a dark sportcoat, black t-shirt, dark trousers, and black leather shoes.

Keeping things simple for the Thanksgiving holiday, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were spotted with their two sons Kingston and Zuma on a day trip to Coldwater Canyon Park in Beverly Hills yesterday (November 27).

The “Wind it Up” songstress and her “Little Things” hubby looked blissful as they spent quality time with their boys, laughing and smiling all the way.

Spending an enjoyable night out together, Sienna Miller and Balthazar Getty were spotted leaving the Groucho private members club last evening (November 27).

The “Factory Girl” actress and the “Brothers and Sisters” stud tried their best not to attract attention by making separate exits, but in the end they were found out to be hanging out together.

So the night is Britney themed with each act singing a Britney track and an American themed song. While nothing has been confirmed rumour has it Ruth will be singing ‘I Love Rock And Roll’ and ‘Heaven,’ Alex will take on ‘Toxic’ and ‘Crazy In Love,’ JLS have bagged ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ and ‘No Air,’ Diana will sing ‘I’m Not A Girl’ and ‘Just Like A Pill’ and finally Eogahn has ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Breaking Free.’ But as we said before it’s subject to change.

This week is also the first time the judges wont have a say in who gets the boot, this time it’s all down to the public vote and the bookies have Ruth Lorenzo as the favourite to go, finally!

What else, what else…

The first show starts at 7.35pm with a performance from Miley Cyrus and goes on till 9.15pm and the second show (the one we’re really care about) is on at 10.15pm, which is when you can expect to see Britney perform.

Unlike previous performers who tend to offer the contestants some pearls of wisdom before the live show Britney wont be partaking and as if that wasn’t disappointing enough for the remaining finalists they’ve also been banned from the backstage area while Britney’s around. No autographs, no photos, 45 minders and 3 dressing rooms (Mariah only had 2!) are just a few of her diva demands. Okay maybe that’s all of her diva demands but saying ‘just a few’ sound so much more dramatic.

It’s the busiest shopping day of the year, and this morning the Jonas Brothers were on hand at “Good Morning America” encouraging all of the Black Friday shoppers to buy their new book.

Nick, Joe, and Kevin were spotted leaving their swanky New York City hotel and arriving at CBS Studios for their GMA appearance to promote “Burning Up: On Tour with the Jonas Brothers.”

WHATEVER happened to the old adage: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”? ABC success story Spicks and Specks is finishing up its fourth season this year and has attracted roughly 1.2 million viewers or more every Wednesday night. Australia loves it. The team of Adam Hills, captains Myf Warhurst and Alan Brough love it. So why mess with a winning formula?

Series host Hills told AAP today:

“I would imagine we’ll try and change it up a little bit for next year. The main thing is just fighting getting stale, which I don’t think any of us have yet. We’ve got to constantly keep ourselves interested because if we start getting bored then the audience will start getting bored.”

The Nerve thinks the series risks jumping the shark by heralding an impending malaise among its panel members. Seriously, if Hills think trying to head off a ratings slump by turning the show into something else is a good idea, maybe it’s perhaps because he’s really just getting tired of the show? The last thing the show needs is a Big Brother or Australian Idol-esque overhaul. Give the people what they want or quit while you’re ahead.

We’ve heard it before, but folks inside Whitney Houston’s circle of pals again insist the on-the-rebound diva and ex-husband Bobby Brown may be getting back together.
The official word from Camp Houston sticks to to the old line about the divorced couple remaining separate, ”but good friends whose primary interest is the well-being of their daughter.” Yet, several Georgia sightings of Houston and Brown in recent days—clearly looking very romantic while dining together—seem to boost the reliability of what I’m hearing. So Britney Spears is dieting so hard for her upcoming appearance on the British show, X-Factor, that her family and friends are worried and trying to get her to eat more. I guess she wants to lose seven pounds and possible die. At least it seems so.

A source said: ‘She goes to bed hungry and is dieting so hard she’s suffering from insomnia, anxiety, flushes and shakes. Her father and the people around her are trying to get her to eat more, but Britney is determined not to be criticised for having any extra bulk.’

So Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow. Will Shenae Grimes sit this one out, if you know what we mean (we mean she's rumored to be an anorexic bitch)?

The Canadian actress says we shouldn't believe the hype, and she has a message for all the haters - ask her before believing what they read.

"Nobody has asked me about it. I really can't help what someone thinks of me because they are reading a paper and choosing to believe it," Grimes opened up to People in an interview, referencing her rumored eating disorder(s).

The 19-year-old Toronto native says the experience of moving to Los Angeles earlier this year parallels that of her 90210 character, Annie Wilson.

"It was huge culture shock," says Grimes, who became celebrity gossip fodder the minute she was cast in the CW remake of the 1990s FOX drama.

Along with her fellow female 90210 costars, Shenae Grimes has been slammed for being too thin, having eating disorders and being a huge bitch in general.

"It's so frustrating," 5-foot-3 Shenae Grimes says, noting that she does not have an eating disorder, but had a close friend struggle with one for years.

"Meet me in person and you can't say anything ... No bones sticking out. Just because people are calling you skinny doesn't mean I'm like, 'Yay!' No! You're telling me I don't look right. This is me. This is my body - I have accepted it."

As for being a diva and a party girl, she shrugs that off too.

"The hours I work, I can't be. These are stories written about everybody. Of course we're new girls on a hit show so we're plopped into little boxes. And people buy it. It makes me second guess anything I've ever read about anybody."

The Hills’ star Spencer Pratt released a statement to The Associated Press, laughing off suggestions that his secret wedding to Heidi Montag is a sham and insisting that the marriage is 100 percent legitimate. Here's what he says:

“We had a beautiful ceremony here at One & Only Palmilla officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer. We’ve never been happier."

He added, regarding the legalities: "And, like other elopements that happen outside the country, we will take care of the legal details when we get home.”

Well, that sort of clears it up. Save for the many unanswered questions.

Meanwhile, The Hills executive producer, Liz Gateley, said footage from the "surprise" wedding will be included in the reality show's upcoming fifth season.

“MTV is currently filming Heidi and Spencer in Mexico, as we were expecting to capture them on vacation,” Gateley says.

“Fans will be able to see footage from the ceremony in an upcoming episode, and we will continue to follow the newlyweds’ relationship as it plays out in real life.”

That's all good, as long as we don't have to watch Spencer Pratt recite his cheesy wedding vows. That might cause sudden, involuntary projectile vomiting.
